About Me

Inspire and nurture the human spirit, one stitch at a time.

Hello there! I’m Kaitlin and I’m an Agricultural Ecologist and Data Analyst by day and a fiber artist by night. Quilting and sewing are my meditative release - I use the design, piecing, and quilting process to both express my creativity and work through life’s emotions and stressors.

I started quilting when I was a teenager. On one of those long boring summer days my grandmother shoved an unbound quilt, needle, and thread in my hands and had me attach the binding. I was immediately hooked and started exploring quilting and other fiber arts. Through early experimentation, I started exploiting the traditional aspect of quilting where upcycling and reusing worn clothing or forgotten fabric is central, but incorporating these fabrics into modern designs. In fact, many of my early quilts were memory quilts made from old clothing or linens (see the gallery above). When 2020 rolled around, designing quilts and sewing kept me inspired during a tumultuous year.

Quilts have always been used to express emotions, create and hold memories, or share love. The quilts here by Free-Time Fibers are meant to do just that - inspire and nurture the soul and spirit.
