Millennial Dream
I purchased a four-patch quilt top at an estate sale in Arroyo Grande, CA for $15. I was intrigued by the original maker’s mixing of traditional “granny” florals and soft prints with vibrant “modern” fabrics like hot pink stripes and cartoon characters.
I interjected my own improvisational four-patches in a complimentary color scheme attempting to continue this conversation between traditional and modern styles and quilters. Mixing traditional hand stitching, big-stitch quilting, and quilt ties were another homage to traditional vs. modern. It was also important to me to preserve the uneven border edges and this was the first time I faced a quilt to feature this aspect.
